Fighting Against Fraud in the SEO World

September 23, 2019 By Mike R.

It is a reality of current life that fraud is everywhere. Particularly in the digital realm, it is easier than ever for hackers to get into your information and create all sorts of havoc. If you’ve ever looked into search engine optimization as a way to improve your online branding, then you know how much of the work is done behind the scenes.

That same behind the scenes area is where a lot of fraud can happen, so it’s no surprise that the two ideas of SEO and deception often intersect.

There are a few examples of things that you should do and things that you should avoid in the online world as these two concepts relate to each other. To prevent fraud from coming into your search engine optimized content, you can use automated services that block that activity.

Any time you note that a site is using black hat techniques, you should avoid them. And, you should recognize the difference between valuable content and word stuffing. Often, the same sites that use word stuffing as a way to get attention are the ones that will use your information in ways that you don’t want.

Automated Services

When you are using online connective methods for legitimate reasons, it is a great way for you to reach people. However, everyone has access to many of these connective methods. You have to figure out how to keep the bad actors away.

And that’s one of the reasons you should add Google re-captcha when people need to log into your services online. You don’t want robotic traffic coming through your website portals, which is why automated filters can be very valuable.

Black Hat Techniques

Once you research black hat techniques, you’ll have several realizations about how online environments work. Any legitimate web resources will stay away from all of these. If your business uses search engine optimization, you’ll note that black hat techniques are strictly prohibited. This is because Google will give you negative attention because of them.

People who are attempting to defraud you will often use these black hat techniques to get your attention in the first place. Any links that you click will just add to the problems later.

Valuable Content vs. Word Stuffing

Online, valuable content is king. But, Google’s algorithms aren’t always perfect at deciding what is valuable in the virtual world. Some companies will use word stuffing instead of good search engine optimization. Because of this, there will be fraudulent websites that show up higher in the search engine results than they should.

The best thing that you can do is learn to recognize the symptoms of these bad searches. This way you can be sure to stay as far away from them as possible.

July 17, 2019 By Mike R.

No matter what you do, if you are selling yourself, your products and services, or your brand, then you are invested in the idea of marketing. The two gigantic categories of marketing are online marketing and then real-life marketing. Online marketing deals with the digital world and all of the social media platforms.
