Speaking of logos,

I thought potential design students would like to know about an upcoming design contest. The contest, sponsored by the International Academy of Design & Technology, offers potential students the opportunity to win a full graphic design scholarship toward an online education at IADT. The basics:

•To Enter: Submit an image showcasing your design potential and a brief essay explaining why you want to pursue a design degree at www.VisualDiner.com, IADT Online’s new social networking community.

•Deadline: Friday, September 28, 2007

•Prizes include $100,000 in scholarships toward Associate and Bachelor degrees, software from co-sponsor Adobe Systems, Inc. and more.

If you’d like more details about the contest, please see the contest home page. I’m happy to answer any questions and further discuss the contest with you. Thank you.

Sincerely,

I think the danger is bleed-over between niches.

Where a logo designer would have detailed, technical complaints about a disaster (i.e., I didn't like it) like the London 2012 logo , that should not be taken out of context - that is, a technical logo practice review.

When a news site, a London local, or a government entity picks up the technical review and mistakes the technical derision for value of the logo - that is, how it performs for the customer - that is sloppy practice, and potentially dangerous in many ways.

So I would encourage those 'joining the bandwagon' of jumping on every topic likely to be popular at the moment - hoping to attract visitors - to take care when referring to material created for a different niche. Know where your material came from, and treat it with respect.
