DotD: Cork’d

When I think of wine I think of sophistication and what I love about Cork’d is that the design has a very sophisticated feel to it due to the color scheme and grid layout, yet it includes a very personal and fun vibe which should attract wine lovers to it. The main section on the homepage uses a basic two-column structure which effectively lets you know what the site is about and gets you started immediately if you are already familiar with the site.

Created by Tundro, a Dan Cederholm and Dan Benjamin it comes as no surprise that the site simply kicks ass in both design and functionality.

  1. Glad you mentioned this site. I’ve really enjoyed it so far. Yeah, it’s a niche site, but who hasn’t enjoyed a great bottle of wine in the past and forgotten what it was? It’s a great site, and could definitely serve as the basis of a number of other niche sites… think cigars, beer, etc…

  2. It amazes me that this is just considered a side project, but now they have the framework for this they could easily branch out to other areas like cigars for example as you mentioned. Not like Dan Benjamin doesn’t smoke cigars or anything.

  3. I like the colours and the general feeling it creates. I agree it has a fun feeling whilst being informative and just useful – good to roll out as has been said onto other niche areas. I got shown this a few days ago and was expecting what found with the people behind.
