The problem with complaining about IE6 is that it is very easy to complain about the wrong things to the wrong people.

There is no point telling off end users about their browsers. They don't care about the aggravation they are causing you. Nor will they believe it. As time goes on, this group will be increasingly dominated by people who either cannot upgrade or do not even know what a browser is.

Clients do not care about security and stability. And they will not believe that you cannot do work for a browser that you have beeen working with for 7 years.

My solution is to put a polite targeted warking at the bottom of my websites that tells IE6 users about security problems and websites that no longer support them. This should only contain information that is of benefit to them.

As for clients, make them wait charge them! Make IE6 complience a visible item on the bill and a qualifier on deadlines. Sooner or later the penny will drop. This may seem like a pay cut but it really isn't. Fixing IE6 bugs is your least productive part of the job so freeing it up will make you more competitive.

IE 6 is Crap, I don't use it at home. However at work it is the only browser allowed on the corp. network. I recently downloaded a copy of firefox portable that I can run at work without any install proceedure. I recomend it to those who are prevented by the corp. IT people from installing any other browser than IE 6 Crap.
