I found one useful way to use Snap Preview - for Amazon product links. In the pop-up window you see the details of the product and text is readable. I left Snap Preview for my links exchange page so that visitors can get some impression of the websites listed. Otherwise I agree that it is not a good idea to use it anywhere - just for information that can be readable in the pop-up window.

And what about copyright infringement? Framing a complete site as snap does is not quite legal. I sure don't like it. After showing a screenshot and maybe some basic intro they should let people go to the site completely or in a new window. Not the way it goes now.

I guess it depends on who you talk to about the definition of "power user", but a SE power user would know all the little knick-knacks that you could type into a SE box to get better results instead of simply doing general searches.

I'm curious about the 'power user' phrase in your critique. How do you define a search engine power user? I use google's search engine as a calculator, stock checker, phonebook, movie listing and more just by using their shortcuts in the main search box. Is there some sort of crazy world out there for the search engine power user? What secrets does it hold?

I don't know what method they're crawling pages with, but if they want to stay competitive, I think it would be a worthwhile investment to spend some time on updating their index.

Try this

Go to snap
type in "computer"
click on first screen shot (which is capture of snap product page)
type "computer" in the screenshot snap search field

Snap offers a comparison shopping function, which is kinda cool generally speaking. However, getting there gives you an infinity mirror effect or the repeating frame effect of web 0.1.

Again, some things need to be tidied up there before they can claim to be "better."
