A lot of the business for real estate agents comes through referrals. However, another big portion of their clients come through effective use of online marketing, especially with social media. But for those real estate agents who struggle with their social media presence, it can be hard to know what you should do to improve this area of your marketing. To help in this area, here are three tips to help make real estate agents more effective on social media in the hopes of getting hired more frequently.
Use the 80/20 Rule
While this rule works particularly well for real estate agents, almost all businesses should consider employing the 80/20 rule for their social media strategies. According to Peter Brooke, a contributor to Business.com, the 80/20 rule means that 80 percent of your social media posts should be tips, general information, and useful or helpful guides while only 20 percent should be promotional materials. By abiding by this ratio, you can show your audience that you’re knowledgeable about the industry as well as being interested in their well being with regards to real estate. If you’re able to build trust with your audience in this way, you have a much better chance of having your social media strategy proving successful when you do post the promotional 20 percent.
Narrow Your Focus
Because there are so many different social platforms available for real estate agents to use for their business, it can be hard to know how to cover all your bases. But luckily, covering all those bases isn’t necessarily the best idea. Sabra Morris, a contributor to Inman.com, advises real estate agents not to spread themselves too thin with regards to social platforms. Rather than trying to be active on all social channels, pick one or two that you will focus on and give all of your attention. By doing this, you’ll have greater success on these few platforms rather than minimal success on all platforms.
Engage With Your Followers
Along with sharing content and posts about your listings or services, it’s also important that you engage with your audience in order to build a rapport with them as individuals. Tali Wee, a contributor to Zillow.com, shares that when you invest your time and attention into engaging with your audience or clients online, you can quickly and easily build both a professional and personal relationship. And although you might be worried about how to best engage, the more you open yourself up to engaging with your followers, the easier it will become.
If you’re a real estate agent who’s been struggling with using social media to your benefit, use the tips mentioned above to help solve your social problems.
