3 Ways to Help Your Online Sales Associates Find More Success

With the number of purchases that happen online, it’s becoming more and more necessary to have online sales people who specialize in sales primarily. While customer service representatives can be helpful, having real salespeople who can speak online with your customers and potential customers can make a huge difference. So to help your online sales team find the most success possible, here are three tips that will help any online sales associate bring more sales in for your company.

Know That Every Sales Situation Is Different

While your initial conversations might start off very similarly when approaching someone online, the actual sales process will likely be different in every situation. If you forget this, Dan Tyre, a contributor to HubSpot.com, shares that you could be missing a lot of opportunities. Because people come to your website at different points in the sales funnel, you should try to be open to wherever that person is. While you might actually help with making a sale sometimes, you also might just need to provide the visitor with information or create a positive experience for them to draw from in the future. But if you’re only trying to convert a sale with each interaction regardless of what the visitor wants, this could prove to backfire in the long run. [Read more…]

Tips For Becoming An Online Sales Guru

If you have items to sell, whether you’re an artist, an individual, or a business, selling online can be a great asset. However, there is more to getting great sales online than just posting your items somewhere and waiting for people to find them. First, you need to post them in the right places. Then you need to do some major advertising.

The internet has opened up numerous avenues for selling online. What is available to you depends on what kind of time and money you want to put into your venture, and what type of items or services you are selling.

Getting Your Stuff Up For Sale

You could simply sell your items from your own website. No matter who your website is through, even if it’s Wix or WordPress, you should have access to some sort of shopping cart app. This allows you to post items and sell them direct, with no middle man. However, you may need to do even more marketing with this, since people will need to be able to find your website.

Combine the use of your own store with the availability of other online shopping centers. Using something like Google Shopping can help you direct more people to your shop, whether it’s on your own website or elsewhere.

Plus, the more places your items are available the more chances you have of increased sales. If you are selling your own art or handcrafted items you don’t want to only be posting them on Etsy. Look into other sales sites online that cater to the handmade products, like Amazon Handmade.

If you’re selling something manufactured, and not handmade, you could be selling on both eBay and Amazon. And, for anything you might be selling, consider using your social media accounts as well. Facebook even has it set up that on business pages and groups you can post items for direct sale through their system.

Marketing What You’ve Got And Where It’s At

Using keywords is a great way to boost yourself in search engines, and they can be used on your website, in your blog, and even on social media. Use them every chance you get, organically of course, to help people find you and what you’ve got for sale.

You also want to make sure you have links shared in various places to each of your sales venues. Make sure there are direct links through your website, and make sure you are sharing links, and even new product and services posts on your social media accounts.

Don’t stop there. By offering discounts and coupons, through social media and maybe even a monthly newsletter, you can attract more new sales and repeat sales. The more you get your links out there, the more people will know what you’re selling.

How To Increase Your Online Sales

While there is a different aspect to online sales than there is selling from a storefront, you still can use some of the techniques from each to make the other successful. Online sales shortens a lot of the sales cycle as is, but you also need to make sure that you are attracting customers. Without a store for them to walk into, how are they going to find you?

That means working hard at online marketing. You need to have a website, a great sales channel, and you need to be promoting all of it on social media. But other things you’ll want to do in order to increase your sales include the following.

Write Better Product Descriptions

Start off your sales strategy by making sure that you have good product descriptions. While having great pictures will show people your products, even the best photo isn’t going to show them all the details. You want them to know ingredients and more.

Make sure that your descriptions tell enough about the products that people can feel as though they know what they are getting. Include size charts and more, depending on the types of products you are selling.

Share Your Items In More Places

Don’t just post your products on your own website, get them out there. Share links to specific products in blog posts and even on social media. You may also want to consider other online sales avenues in order to increase the sales of your products, such as using Amazon and eBay.

Talk to online reviewers that deal in your specific products as well. They may be interested in doing a review in exchange for a trial product. This can be a great way to get honest feedback.

Follow Up On Sales

If you want repeat customers, make sure you are following up with the people that do buy from you. Call them or email them for feedback on the products. Find out if they need replacements or want more. Offer them discounts for coming back to you to buy more.

If you are selling on a site that has feedback channels, like eBay, and you see a buyer hasn’t filled out the info, reach out to them and encourage their feedback, kindly. They’ll be happy you care enough to find out if they are happy with their product or not.

Offer Discounts And Coupon Codes

Discounts and coupon code are good for getting people to come back again, and you can even include a card with a coupon code on it in your shipments. However, they are also a great idea for attracting new customers. Offer coupons for first time buyers on your social media to attract new sales.
