Where Your Business Should Be Online: From Storage To Social Media

Skittles on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube

When it comes to the internet there are so many aspects of it your business should be using these days. It’s not just about emailing people anymore. Today’s technology has opened up so many new avenues and opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

You’ve been online long enough now that you should have a website, an email address, and you should at least have the basic two social media sites set up (Facebook and Twitter), but you could still be missing out on things. It’s understandable. You’re running a business so you don’t have time to research the cloud and all of the social media magnets that keep popping up all over the place.

Using The Cloud For Storage And Security

If your business does any amount of work online you can really benefit from everything in the cloud. Cloud storage is only the beginning of it, but it’s a great beginning. With cloud storage you have easy access to all of your information no matter where you get online or what you use to get online.

While it gives you easy access, storing your stuff in the cloud is also a safe way to protect your information, since the cloud is a secure place. However, you can also chose who you want to share the stuff with. This makes it a great asset to company that work mostly in the virtual space, allowing them easy access to clients and workers.

Internet And Communications

The cloud, and the internet in general, have opened up many new avenues for online communications. Instead of just basic email and stuffy chatrooms, you now have access to video conferencing through things like Google Hangouts and Skype. These allow you easy access to meetings and more, without the need to leave your own home or office.

By liberating your phone lines and using the cloud for your telephone communications, through VoIP services, you can access phone calls and voice mails from anywhere in the world, as long as you have internet access. You can also get an app on your smartphone that allows you to go mobile with your business phone service.

Getting More Out Of Social Media

And then there is social media, where you can reach the most people with the smallest amount of effort. Just update your pages once in awhile, post something interesting, and respond to people when they comment or message. However, if you’re only using Facebook and Twitter you may be missing out on some free advertising.

Get creative and find ways to use the social media platforms that use photos as their backdrops, like Instagram and Pinterest. Create videos that go along with your business model and post them on YouTube. Do it all with Tumblr. Each social media site has a little something different to offer, and they can all draw in new customers and new business.
