Simpl(e)y Beautiful

Summary: To me simple is beautiful. Also some sites that I could only refer to as simpl(e)y beautiful.

I really do not know what is with me and minimalistic design. I can stare at a site forever that shows a great use of simplicity mixed with beauty. It can be difficult to achieve such a balance. I have yet to achieve that with this site, but I am striving for it. Maybe I say this because it is my site so I stand to be its harshest critic, but when I come across other sites that evoke the look and feel I am looking for then I tend to get a little upset at myself and envious of the other's creative genius.

This site will more than likely go through a couple of redesigns before the year is up, but to make sure I keep track of the changes I am going to do what they do over at dionidium and keep track of the different design changes. The reason for this is that some people may like this design better than the next one, so I feel I should give them the option to keep it like this. I believe the difficulty in finding a great minmalistic blog lies in the fact that I like to do my sites in liquid design. My company's homepage I feel pulls off a good minimalistic liquid design quite well. However this site just does not do it for me right now. It did last week, but not now. Go figure.

By the way the only reason I even needed to post this was because I came across the homepage of Twinsparc and admired it for a few minutes. Simple and beautiful, just the way I like it. Then I went over to Andy's site and saw his CSS Zen Garden design and I almost lost it. Where is everyone getting their creative juice from? Is it the water? The good thing about the web design community today is that there is never a lack of good simplistic, clean inspiration.
