Vault Gets A Facelift

If you haven't been to the CSS Vault today I suggest you head on over and checkout the new design. I am glad to see Jacob taking care of the site and improving upon what I couldn't. In classic Vault commentary let's have a look at it...

What I Like

The overall layout remains unchanged basically and even though I am biased I do think that structurally it's a good setup for easy browsing. The added colors help to give it a unique feel from the previous version which was my typical plain design.

What I Don't Like

The green and blue, although pretty (damn did I say 'pretty'), can be a bit tough to read on the white background. On a light gray background they would work much better I believe.

It's still a bit rough around the edges, but I do like what I see. Your thoughts?

I think it needs some kind of border or drop shadow (or something!) - looks a bit like a stolen design that has been slapped into the middle of a blank page.

I don't think the black in the logo works either - although if I'm honest, I can't think of an alternative color that would work.

I'm still looking for the contact link/button :)

His google mockup ads obviously don't work, but like he said, its a live running launch or something, so I guess he is still tweaking things.

I like the header and the logo - very aquatic. Though I do agree the contrast of the text is a little low - I'd just go a little darker. I like the blue border when you hover on the images.

I'm assuming the markup changed, but don't know because I never looked at it before. I know I'm asking at the right place ;)

Looks like a little divitis going on there.

I like the new header compared to the one that was in the mock-up a few weeks (er, month) back. Content area feels a little crowded though, those grey headers (CSS Vault Notes, Featured Site, etc..) need some white space above them.

Quick glance. The header is nice. ^_^ But the green is a bit bright.

But I haven't used it yet, so I can't say anymore.

I love it. Header graphic is the best part. I'd put the CSS Vault in the CSS Vault now, ha ha! Hey, coolhomepages.com put themselves in their own gallery once, so why not? :P

It's nice and clean, not a far cry from your 'plain' design...I mostly likey much. That green is hard on me.
