The Wisdump redesign concept I posted previously have been updated. It still follows the same basic premise, but is now populated with more content, and the sidebar top isn’t as heavy.

Dumping wisdom on design and the web

As I’ve hinted before, there’s a redesign of Wisdump – by yours truly – coming soon. I thought I’d share some elements from this design with you. Overall, the idea is to stay true to the whitespace look, but do a better job placing ads and such. Also, Wisdump will be sub-networked with related Splashpress sites, more on that later on.

Dear readers. My name is Thord Daniel Hedengren, and I call myself a designer, writer, and blogger. I could perhaps go on like that, but I find it boring and so do you.
I’m here to take over Wisdump, get it back on its feet for real, and then taking it up a notch. From now on you can expect regular posts on design and other Wisdump-ish things, by me and the team of writers I’ll build. Some you’ll know, others will perhaps be new to you. I’ll be sure to present them later on, of course. I’m not that egocentric…
So who am I? Well, if you really want to know, do hop over to my blog, at rethord.com, and read up. In short, I’ve been doing a bunch of blog designs lately, as well as worked with branding within Splashpress. The web’s been my livelihood since 1998, and I do mean livelihood. I’ve been a freelance journalist, published several magazines, a book, a pen-and-paper role-playing game, and done bunch of videogames websites – among other things. In Swedish, so you would probably not know anything about it. Take my word for it.
You might, however, remember my name from The Blog Herald, 901am, and a bunch of footers on blogs and sites I’ve been involved in for design purposes. Or from BloggerTalks, perhaps, what do I know.
But I digress.
While I have a vision for Wisdump, I’ll be wanting to hear from you guys as well, reader input is important to me.
So what do you want from Wisdump? Speak up.

As the current owner of Wisdump, I’d like to quickly take this opportunity to say a couple of things-:
a. As was pointed out by Matt Mullenweg, there was indeed a “spammy tactic” being employed at this blog in the form of an “embedded a 1×1 pixel iframe loading the ping page for Ping-O-Matic on every one of the pages”.
b. This is against the policy of Splashpress in every sense. We sincerely apologize and own up to it, as has been recommended by Martin Neumann. It will not happen again on any of our sites and the person responsible is no longer associated with Wisdump or Splashpress.
c. Some of the comments on this blog have been moderated, as being “abusive“. As we haven’t gotten round to putting up a specific comments policy on Wisdump yet, we are using the criteria as laid out at another of our blogs, The Blog Herald.
This post is an apology to all concerned and for disclosure purposes only. Comments are closed.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Mark Saunders

As mentioned previously, Wisdump needs a new logo. The following entries have been received and the choice is down to you.
Whilst the designs vary in quality (in my opinion), each and every design submitted is here.
Cast your vote for your favorite in the comments below. The design with the most votes received by the end of Wednesday will be the winner. Please ignore colors as these will be changed to suit the new design anyway.
